Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity Wall Insulation

Cavity wall insulation fills the air space between the interior and exterior walls of a property, this helps prevent unwanted heat loss through the walls.

Extraction

If there are issues with the current insulation it may need to be removed and replaced. We can provide both extraction and installation services.

Why do problems occur?

  • The insulation may have been installed incorrectly or the wrong material was used. This can cause damp or cold spots.

  • Defective insulation

  • Leaks within the building or roof

  • Insulation may become wet if the property has not been maintained properly

What are the benefits of Cavity Wall Insulation?

  • Savings on energy bills

  • Helps to reduce carbon footprint

  • Improves the EPC rating of homes

  • The house will be warmer in winter but keep cooler in hot weather

  • Increases the property value

  • How is cavity wall insulation installed?

Retrofit cavity wall insulation is installed using specialist delivery machinery and compressed air.

The bead insulation is combined with a glue formula, and injected into the cavity via small drill holes through external brick mortar joints.

  • What happens to the holes drilled during installation?

Our installers will fill each hole with fresh mortar. We will try to match this to the existing mortar.

  • What products do you use?

We are a licensed ThermaBead installer. Information on this can be found in the video below.

  • Can cavity wall insulation cause damp?

Cavity wall insulation increases the thermal efficiency of a house, but if it has been installed incorrectly, it can worsen damp problems. On surveying we will check for existing insulation and damp issues to ensure that the cavity is suitable for installation.

We are a licensed ThermaBead Installer

"The ThermaBead system is a grey bonded-bead system that is pressure blown into the cavity by a specially designed injection gun. The material acts like a tea cosy, trapping the heat and keeping dwellings cosy and warm. The special material settles into the cavity leaving very little space between beads, which, coupled with a unique manufacturing method, means an optimum level of heat is being bounced back into the property."
