Wall Tie Replacement

What is wall tie replacement?

Wall ties are bars of metal that span the entire cavity of your wall. They are used to join the inner leaf to the protective outer leaf of a building. This gives the building structural stability and is an essential part of cavity wall construction.

Signs of wall tie failure:

  • Horizontal or Vertical cracks in the brickwork
  • Bulging Brickwork
  • Cracks or separation in window reveals
  • Lintels lifting or sagging
  • Collapse of outer leaf brickwork

Repointing

What is repointing?

Repointing is the process of renewing the pointing in between the bricks. This process replaces the old mortar and ensures that the bricks are bonded together again. Repointing is essential for maintaining, protecting, and conserving brick buildings.

How do you know when repointing is required?

  • You may see visual damage or gaps in the current brickwork, this is the most common and obvious sign that it needs repointing.

  • There may be signs of damp on the interior of the house. This is quite often caused by ageing or damaged pointing, either of which could allow excess water to leak through.

  • Crumbling mortar

Lintel Replacement

What is lintel replacement?

Lintels are beams that span openings such as doors and windows. They are used to support the weight of the structure above. Windows and doors are not constructed to withstand the weight on their own so lintels are required to assist in carrying this weight.

When should a lintel be replaced?

The most common sign that a lintel has failed and needs to be replaced is when stepped cracks appear in the brickwork. These are either vertical or diagonally up and in from the top corners of the windows.

Structural Repairs & Gable Rebuild

If properties are not correctly maintained, this can result in complete gable wall failure. In drastic scenarios this can lead to the total collapse of the gable.

We can off full gable peak demolition and rebuild alongside other structural repairs such as HeliBar crack stitching.
